Bulletproof Coffee

Last week at our town business association meeting, I met a woman who has a company with her husband, selling coffee. Apparently she sells it by the cup at our local farmer’s market, and also stocks various stores around town with her pre-packaged blends. My brother was raving about the unique flavor and deliciousness of her coffee, right before we walked into the meeting – and then, out of a room FULL of people, she and I bumped into each other.

It was a providential connection.

She’s interested in learning about essential oils and other various aspects of natural healing … and I was thrilled to hear that she teaches public speaking at a university! This is a topic near and dear to my heart, and one that I really hope to improve upon and advance in.

During our conversation she asked if I had ever heard of bulletproof coffee. Well… I hadn’t.

Bulletproof Coffee

“Called Bulletproof coffee, the trendy “health” drink blends a cup of black coffee with 1 to 2 tablespoons of unsalted, grass-fed butter and 1 to 2 tablespoons of something called medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, a type of easily digested fat {in Janet’s case, she uses Coconut Oil}.

The man behind the popular coffee concoction: Dave Asprey, a tech entrepreneur who claims the 450-plus-calorie brew suppresses hunger, promotes weight loss, and improves energy and performance. He credits Bulletproof coffee for helping him drop 100-plus pounds, plus helping him get more sleep and boosting his brainpower…” – source.

Apparently you add some butter and coconut oil to your coffee … and viola! You’ve got a cup of coffee equivalent to an energy drink. Katie, blogger at Wellness Mama wrote a great post on how she fixes her bulletproof coffee – “The Only Way I Drink Coffee”.

I know there’s a huge debate out there about whether or not coffee is “healthy” ; whether or not it’s great for you, just okay, or perhaps even dangerous to your health.

But in the end, if you’re going to have your coffee and love it too … try adding some butter and coconut oil. You might as well bulletproof your coffee for some added health benefits. Good fats + added energy, from 2 safe and beneficial ingredients.

I purchase Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions – it is the best quality I have found, and my family has been using it by the 5-gallon bucket for years! Also, their website provides educational videos and detailed product information that help you better understand what you’re really getting.
